Sept 13: Permaculture for
Small Farms & Homesteads
This workshop will pick up from the site evaluation in the previous workshop and look at preliminary concept designs to meet the needs of the farm's program.
The focus will be about applying the principles, mehtods and strategies of permaculture design to this small farm just outside Winlock.

Sept 26: Creating Microclimates:
Hedgerows and Huegel Beds
From traditional English hedgerows to Sepp Holzer’s giant Huegel beds - mounded earth and screening plantings have been used to dynamically tailor microclimates for more favorable production.
Learn ways to create microclimates which can raise temperatures and protect plants and animals (and humans!) from frost and wind chill damage.

Sept 27 (Sunday): Rainwater Harvest & Management
This workshop will include a viewing of Geof Lawton's Rainwater Harvesting video. From there we will proceed with a preliminary layout of ponds and swales to collect sormwater runoff and mange it across the Winlock Meadows Farm.
Come watch the video, learn the principles, knowledge and techniques and then go on site and participate in the actual design of a swale & pond systems.
Bruce Weiskotten will walk you through the essentials for harvesting natural rainwater for any project whether it’s a permaculture homestead, wetlands mitigation or just a sweet landscape pond in your back yard.
